From Rationalist to (Not Quite) Hassid

Location: Small Shul

How does a hard-nosed analytical philosopher, trained in the rationalism of contemporary English-speaking philosophy react to the airy-fairy-mumbo-jumbo spiritual world of Hassidism? How do the words of the anti-philosophical Polish masters bring a person from thinking Hassidic writing to be pretty much a bunch of meaningless phrases put together because they sound nice, to thinking that Hassidut has something profound to say about what the heart and soul of Judaism is always was, and should be? Come and look at some of the texts that almost make me want to grow by beard long!
