A Taste of Florence Melton – The Israel/Diaspora Relationship

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Location: R4

What did the establishment of the State symbolize for Jewry? To what degree is Israel home to those who continue to maintain their residence in the Diaspora? Where should their primary loyalties lie? What does Israel contribute to the Diaspora and vice versa? What sacrifices, if any, should Diaspora Jews be willing to make for the State of Israel? What say should Diaspora Jews have in the political processes of the State of Israel and why?
Come and listen to, and participate in, the discussion on this critical issue and get a taste of what Florence Melton students worldwide study each week. The Florence Melton Adult Mini-School is a Project of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. The Auckland school is funded by the Raye Freedman Trust and a year 1 class is being piloted in New Zealand.
