Can we find traces of fantasy in the Talmud? Was Jules Verne the first one to invent the submarine? (the Nautilus). The fantastic tales of Rabbi Bar bar Hannah as found in the Babylonian Talmud have fascinated Jewish scholars throughout the centuries. Reading through these stories we will try to understand what is the social and religious importance of a world that is out of this world. (TN)
