The Churches of the Warsaw Ghetto

Location: R6

Jews were not the only inhabitants of the Warsaw Ghetto. There were also thousands of "Christians of the Jewish race" who were forced to live in the Ghetto alongside its Jewish inhabitants. Only Catholic churches were active there and other churches were non-existent. Nuns and priests served the churches of the Ghetto and there were even Jews who converted to Christianity. We will look into diaries and memories from within the Ghetto, see how the Churches outside viewed it and how the Jewish population of the Ghetto saw their fate. And, we will try to see how this co-existence changed the relationship of Christianity to the Holocaust, then and now.
