1783 was the heyday of the 'Haskala' (Enlightenment) period when a group of Jewish scholars became the first to publish a monthly newspaper in Hebrew. This was the first use of Hebrew in a non-religious context and so began the re-birth of modern Hebrew. Ephraim will take you into the world of these scholars and show the evolution of Hebrew over the ensuing 200 years. (TN)
